Solar Road Map for Finland

prepares a road map for solar energy in Finland up to year 2010

identifies RTD needs and catalyzes industrial development

assesses the potential of solar energy in reducing GHG  emissions

The goal of the Solar Road Map project was to prepare an action plan for solar energy in Finland. This includes both national targets for solar energy utilization and industrial activities. The strategy was completed in late 2001 and realization will start in spring 2002.

The goal set for solar energy in the national climate strategy is close to 0.1 TWh/a by year 2010. This will necessitate 120,000 m2 of solar heating systems and 22 MWp of PV in Finland.

The project was  part of the National Technology Agency's Climtech programme (climate change). Solar Road Map (2000-2001) is coordinated by SOLPROS.
